A Planet in Peril?
War, terrorism, natural disaster, cruelty to humans and animals, earthquakes, hurricanes, running out of oil, nuclear threats, countries at each other's throats with few options for intervention, global warming, religious fanaticism, the breakdown of transportation and communication... are we in the middle of Armageddon? What kind of planet will our kids and grandkids inherit?
When Baha'u'llah announced His Message in the mid 1800's, science still didn't know what a galaxy was, let alone the fact that there are a hundred billion of them containing a hundred billion stars each; science didn't know if there were really atoms yet, even though Baha'u'llah stated "Split the atom's heart, and low, within thou wilt find a sun.."; science had not yet discovered electronics, let alone computers!
The Bible states that in the "time of the end" there will be an explosion of knowledge never seen before in history, and God will give each child of that age (our age), the equivalent of a year's knowledge every single day, compared to past ages! Baha'u'llah has indeed fulfilled this prophecy, and these literally are those times!
He states that there are disasters, a planet in peril, and a "lamentably defective" old order being rolled up for the new one to take it's place-- a time of Democracy not only in politics, but in religion, where the authority of clergy is replaced with the authority of each human heart and mind.
Devastating immediate future, brilliant distant future? He also states that unless we study this new Revelation, we will never really get what's going on! The greatest kings of past ages didn't have a fraction of the knowledge the least grade schooler has today.
This explosion of knowledge, and the dawn of the maturity of the human race occurred in 1844, just as the Bible predicted it would. This is the date given by every Biblical, Quranic, Aurvedic and many other scholars for the Return. Did it occur "like a thief in the night" while no one was watching? Science says yes: all evidence points to the explosion, and peril, predicted for centuries, has now happened! Looking into it is a life or death priority, not only for individual souls, but for the fate of the planet.
